Yaz & Yasmin Side Effects

Yaz Yasmin Side Effects

According to two studies published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), women who take the birth control pills Yaz, Yasmin or Ocella are twice as likely to suffer blood clots as women using another popular birth control pill. This increased blood clots risk could lead to a number of other serious and potentially fatal side effects, including heart attack, pulmonary embolism or stroke.

Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella contain a hormone known as drospirenone (DRSP), which can increase the levels of potassium in the blood. According to lawsuits filed by women who used Yaz or Yasmin, this increase in potassium levels (known as hyperkalemia) can lead to serious cardiovascular side effects, including arrhythmia or rapid heartbeat.

Many women who suffered from blood clots or other side effects after using Yaz, Yasmin or Ocella have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of these products. These Yasmin and Yaz lawsuits have alleged that the makers of these products failed to properly warn about the increased of side effects compared with other birth control pills.
